To anyone that got an email from my aol address with the subject line: Important Documents or anything like that. Please don't open it. It wasn't really from me. My email was hacked. I've changed my password, so hopefully it won't happen again. Sorry.

Whew!

For once I can be proud of the Texas Legislature. Their anti-abortion bill did NOT pass, thanks to some courageous women. I got tears in my eyes reading the story this morning.

today since I stopped smoking. I wish I'd have quit years ago, but I'm proud of myself that I've never been tempted even once to pick up another cigarette. I haven't even had a dream in which I'm smoking for a long time. I'd have probably not even remembered today was three years except my quit buddy from Quitnet.com is one of my Facebook friends, and we still congratulate each other at milestones.

Why is there vanilla yogurt and all kinds of fruit flavors even honey but not chocolate? Seems to me like someone could figure out how to make chocolate yogurt.

Quote from a Huffington Post news article:

"The selection of a Republican candidate for the presidency of this globalized and expansive empire is – and I mean this seriously – the greatest competition of idiocy and ignorance that has ever been," said the retired Cuban leader, who has dueled with 11 U.S. administrations since his 1959 revolution.

I'm not a communist by any definition, but this, I totally agree with, except for the empire part.

I just logged on to my AOL account to check my mail and saw this Huffington Post article about the president going to Joplin, MO to view the tornado damage and console the victims. Then at the end of the article it said this )

He was 65 and died from cancer today. So sad. His most famous role was Arthur Dietrich on the immortal Barney Miller, the best sitcom ever made, IMO. The man made me laugh. You gotta love someone that makes you laugh and morn when they leave us.

When I came home from work Thursday afternoon the whole front patio area was covered in tiny, little seeds. It's hard to describe exactly how my house and yard are configured, but the garage sets in front and between the back of the garage and the house is mostly concrete. I have a plant bed along one side and an area in the corner on the other side where the oleander tree is. The plant bed goes almost up to opposite the front door. There's an overhang making a small porch area. These seeds were scattered all over just that area. They weren't on the driveway or the little bit of yard out front and outside the fenced part of the yard. They weren't on the side or at the back of my house. Only there in this small courtyard type area.

I would have thought the seeds blew there (and it was windy that day) if they hadn't been on top of the leaves of the plants in the side bed. If they had fell from the sky, though, how did they get in the covered area? If is was the wind, why weren't they everywhere? I thought at first they were inorganic matter, like something off the roof or our neighbor's roof, but Mr. akite looked at them under a magnifying glass and found they were seeds. Though, not of a type that he'd ever seen before. Me either. Freaky, y/n?

I was starting to go through withdrawal and didn't think I was going to be able to get on line at all today. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I think it's either my network card or the ethernet port at the back of my desk top computer. I'm going to take it tomorrow, I guess. I feel bad about having the cable company out three times when it looks like it's a hardware problem on my part. /o\ I don't even know why it started working again just now. I disconnected everything and hooked it back up again and boom! My computer was seeing the modem again. Don't know how long it will last. When are we going to get those chips in our head so we can surf the net with our brain? In the meantime, I'm going to see if they can patch up the old dinosaur here one more time.

Adobe Flash update! You froze my computer! My computer recovered, obviously, but it was still annoying. I suspect it was all a diabolical scheme by Skipper's nemesis, Dr. Blowhole.

With all the buzz about Congress possibly overturning the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy in the U.S. military, I thought I'd tell you all how it was for me back in the olden days.

My experiences with homosexuals in the U.S. Army before Don't Ask, Don't Tell )

Please note these are my experiences and my opinions. Someone else that was in the military at the same time may have had a completely different experience.

100 Days

It's been 100 days since I quit smoking. I'm a member of QuitNet.com, which is a wonderful support site. I recommend it to anyone that wants to quit or is even thinking about quitting. I've made a lot of friends there. The Q, which is what members call QuitNet for short, has a lot of history and traditions, and a hundred days is a major milestone. Members are invited to the lodge, you're supposed to wear a silly hat and fly a kite, also they encourage you to write a ramble about your quit to mark the day. I posted one this morning that'll be behind the cut. It's full of QuitNet jargon you can feel free to ask me to clarify.
