Four episodes in, and I'm still on the edge of my seat, literally, through almost the whole program. It continues to engage me and surprise me. It's been a long time since an hour long dramatic show has hooked me, and even longer since the show has been on one of the big networks.

I don't feel the need to slash anyone, but I did see a spark of what may be a bit of male/female attraction this week. I won't even speculate where they're going with that, because every time I think I have something figured out or think I know where something is going, I'm wrong. That's where the surprise element come in. The writing on this show is excellent as is the acting. So far none of the characters have come off phony.

Two episodes in, and I'm really enjoying Designated Survivor. I keep expecting it to evolve into soap operaish melodrama, but so far it's kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when you think things are going to turn better, boom! Plot twist! I don't want to really get into detail so I don't spoil the show for any one thinking of watching, but if you are thinking about it, jump in. The writing and acting so far has been really good. I recommend it.

Please disregard and delete any email you may have received from my aol account. It got hacked for the second time in a month. So sorry for the trouble.

To anyone that got an email from my aol address with the subject line: Important Documents or anything like that. Please don't open it. It wasn't really from me. My email was hacked. I've changed my password, so hopefully it won't happen again. Sorry.

Heads up to anyone who might have my Tales of A. Kite website bookmarked, it will be going bye-bye as of Wed. April 15. I can no longer afford to pay Bast to host and maintain the site for me. I am slowly posting my fiction to AO3 and have quite a bit done already. You can find me at akite on AO3. You can now go back to your normally scheduled reading. :-)

I'm so happy! Somebody liked a story of mine enough to make a podfic of it. Strangely enough, the story picked was the first story I ever posted in a public forum. It's a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine story that's a tag to the episode, "Doctor Bashir, I Presume". My story is Hidden Talents, and the podfic can be found here: Podfic

For once I can be proud of the Texas Legislature. Their anti-abortion bill did NOT pass, thanks to some courageous women. I got tears in my eyes reading the story this morning.

I joined AO3 today. \o/ I received an invitation because of the move of the 852 Prospect Sentinel site to the Archive. I have one lone Sentinel story that was on the old archive (and it's a crossover with Star Trek Voyager written in 1999) but I'm happy to have it on AO3 even though it has its flaws. I should get my act together and put everything over there, but one baby step at a time.

I'm hoping all my friends in the Eastern part of the U.S. stay safe, dry and warm. It's sunny and cool here, not a cloud in the sky. :)

I just read the news that Candy passed away this morning. It makes me so sad because I let my friendship with her slide. Candy was the first person in the Houston fandom community to make me feel welcome and that seemed to be interested in my input. She also explained to me what slash is. :) I first met her way back in 1985. She started Revelcon, our convention that's here in Houston every March, back in 1989. I've been every single one. Candy has been in ill health for a long time. In fact, her health is why she had to pass putting on the con to others. At the con last year, she asked all of us concom to stay on the stage for a few minutes as we were kicking off the Saturday night entertainment. She gave us all angel bear beanie babies and told us we were her angels. It makes me tear up just thinking about it.

I'm going to miss her, and I wish I'd have stayed closer. You know how that goes, we get caught up in our own lives and doing our own thing, we sometimes let friends drift away. *sigh*

today since I stopped smoking. I wish I'd have quit years ago, but I'm proud of myself that I've never been tempted even once to pick up another cigarette. I haven't even had a dream in which I'm smoking for a long time. I'd have probably not even remembered today was three years except my quit buddy from Quitnet.com is one of my Facebook friends, and we still congratulate each other at milestones.

They have called this day the Eleventh of March! And whomsoever of you gets through this day, unless you are shot in the head or somehow slain, you will stand at tiptoe when e'er you hear the name again, and you will get excited at the name March the Eleventh!

We happy few, we few, we band of brothers. Our names will be as like household names. And those who are not here, be they sleeping or doing something else, they will feel themselves... sort of crappy. Because they are not here to... to join the fight, on this day, the Eleventh of March!

Why is there vanilla yogurt and all kinds of fruit flavors even honey but not chocolate? Seems to me like someone could figure out how to make chocolate yogurt.

Quote from a Huffington Post news article:

"The selection of a Republican candidate for the presidency of this globalized and expansive empire is – and I mean this seriously – the greatest competition of idiocy and ignorance that has ever been," said the retired Cuban leader, who has dueled with 11 U.S. administrations since his 1959 revolution.

I'm not a communist by any definition, but this, I totally agree with, except for the empire part.
